Today is day one of our spring school holidays, Monday 28th of September. Today I was at my dad's house and I did heaps of fun stuff. Here is a list of what we did:
- Got donuts from Lyttelton Glamour Cakes
- Went to Kmart to get a ball
- Had lunch at Cocopelli
- Watched Cats and Dogs 3
- Saw my nana.
Last week kids from my class, including me, went skiing at Porter Heights Ski field.
I was a beginner and learnt how to stop, turn, and ski normally. At first I started on the beginner slope and was skiing in and out of cones on the snow. I was lucky nd didn't fall over on this slope but I did on the magic carpet which is a machine that takes you back up the hill. On here I was going really fast and it was so much fun!
On the intermediate slope I firstly went up the poma which takes you up the hill. Next I went down the mountain but before that I had to get off the poma. I did it but almost went back down the hill. Going down the mountain was fun but I went too fast and at the end I did two flips and landing face down in the snow. It was loads of fun but I kept falling over. I was still trying though after all this to get down the mountain without falling over.
Skiing is a good sport and I think everyone should try it.
Sewing
For tech yesterday I made fingerless gloves with a label on them. The label is a bird in some flowers. They turned out okay and only took one tech session to make. The material used for this is polar fleece and is really warm. This is all I did for sewing yesterday but I am really proud of myself and happy how they turned out.
Foods/Cooking
For foods I made a calzone. It was made over two weeks, with the first week being a design and preparation week. Mine turned out really good with corn, ham, cheese, mixed herbs, onions and spinach. I turned my calzone into a twisted bun. It was really yummy.
Poppy and I have been planning a bird house and safe space for the native birds of Christchurch. This is being done for inquiry and science but we aren't physically making it. Our next steps are to figure out what measurements are needed for this. Our plan includes everything a bird needs to survive, which has water, a good sleeping spot and we are still working on the food part of this. We have found some information on the types of food the birds like to eat but as I said, we are not finished.
