ANZAC Biscuits

Today I made ANZAC biscuits. They were originally made for the ANZAC's or Australia New Zealand Army Corps, during the war. These were the biscuits which were sent for the ANZAC's because they were hard and wouldn't get soft, soggy, or gross during the boat ride to get to them. The biscuits don't actually have a name, they were just called the ANZAC biscuits because the ANZAC's were the one's eating them I guess.

Here are some pictures of me making and cooking the biscuits. They were delicious!

  1. These were the most delicious Anzac biccies - nice and crunchy on the outside, but soft in the middle. Yum! It's great to see how much you have grown in confidence in the kitchen, and taking the time to find out why Anzac biscuits are so special to us kiwis. Great effort! I did find it a little to read though, the way it goes off the page, maybe you could format it a little bit. Looking forward to seeing what you do next X

  2. Hi Caitlyn! Love that you've been busy doing some baking - and especially ANZAC biscuits to signify the importance of this time of year. They look scrummy!! Did they all get gobbled up straight away, or have you managed to ration them out?

  3. Thank you for sharing this moment with us. Many people across NZ and Australia will relate to your experience as they also bake ANZAC biscuits on ANZAC weekend. It is a great way to keep alive the memories of those that sacrificed so much for us. I like that you included that information for people who may not know. Did you stand at the gate at dawn? I went out and one of my neighbours sang a waiata mourning those we have lost which was amazing to hear while we were standing in the darkness.

  4. Oh what a yummy treat for your family. I don’t really eat many biscuits but I do love a good ANZC biscuit. It’s that crunch on the outside and chewy bit in the middle. That was a great way to remember ANZC day. Many people around NZ went out to their gate in memory of those people who lost their lives and fought in the war. I found this a very moving experience as we stood in silence. Did your family go out to the end of your driveway? We had five households join in and heard a couple of fireworks go off which was a nice finish.
I hope you’re well Caitlyn and look forward to reading your next blog.
